As Valentines day is rapidly approaching, so are the plans and the gifts of heartfelt love or guilt are bough. Valentines Day is considered a day to love and be loved by one person or many. As everyone should know, this day was started because of Saint Valentine who decided to marry people because it wasn't allowed, and he believed that true love shouldn't be stopped. He got caught and sent to jail. And there he had a friend who was a girl. She kept him company until he died on Valentines Day, and before he died, he sent her a note sighed "Love, your Valentine". And from that day on people decided that they were going to write love poems and send gifts to their loved ones in the memory of this man.
But now people expect for gifts and candy to be given to them, and that's how they feel affection is being shown to them. And everyone goes all out to celebrate this holiday. It is nice to receive a note or a flower from someone special, everyone loves it. But that's what it should be. Special. Not expected. When you love someone and want to show them you love them, you can do it any day. The only difference with Valentines day is that everyone is doing it. Everyone is buying chocolate, and roses and teddy bears. Everyone. Why not get those things on other days, why does this day have to be the only one? I believe that people shouldn't spend all this money to buy someone what everyone else is getting, they should be individual and make something or do something or buy something on a different day. What I want for Valentines Day is a kiss, a sweet remark, no chocolate or flowers. Just time with my loved one. Of course it is always nice to get those things, but love is about passion not things.
When you go shopping for Valentines Day ask yourself what would mean the world to the person you love? Is it a day at the Spa, a clean house, a nice dinner or maybe their favorite flowers. Not roses. Do something individual.
